Explorations in 3D Holographic AR

We’re interested in 3D holographic AR as an interactive interface.  Currently we’re exploring the “pepper’s ghost” holographic illusion to augment the reality of artist David Greenstone’s garage.  So far he’s been able to view, manipulate and modify his sculptures holographically.  We’ve also constructed experimental 3D Holographic Viewing boxes for smart phones and tablets, which will be made available for purchase if there is enough interest.  You can vote to express your interest for these 3D Holographic Viewing boxes at the bottom of our Buy Stuff page.  We’ll also be posting a YouTube video on our exploits into other holographic technologies soon.  For now, we’ve posted a few snapshots of our work in holography.

 

Desktop 3D Object Spinner App

We have created a cloud-based interactive 3D Object Spinner App that you can use to view sculptures 360 degrees on your desktop computer. Click any sculpture below to load it into the 3D Object Spinner App.  Then click and drag over the sculpture left or right and it will spin in that directly infinitely. To view full screen, click the full screen link at the top of the page.

NOTE: Full screen currently works best using Chrome browser for PC or Mac. Get Chrome here.

Mobile 3D Object Spinner App

We have created a mobile version of our cloud-based interactive 3D Object Spinner App that you can use to view sculptures 360 degrees on your smart phone or tablet. Click any sculpture below to load it into the 3D Object Spinner App.  Then click and drag over the sculpture left or right and it will spin in that directly infinitely.

To enable as a fullscreen App for iPhone or iPad follow these instructions:

  1. Tap one of the images below to load the 3D Object Spinner App
  2. Tap the “share” icon at the bottom of the screen,
  3.  and select “Add to Home Screen”                            
  4. A shortcut icon will be added to your iPhone or iPad.
  5. Tap the newly added icon to open the 3D Object Spinner App in fullscreen mode.

 

Smart Phone & Tablet 3D Holographic Viewing Boxes

These 3D Holographic Viewing boxes were made for smart phones and tablets and can be used interactively with our 3D Object Spinner App to view artist David Greenstone’s sculptures 360 degrees.

The 3D Object Viewers can also be used to experience the work of other artists holographically.
